The Metawatch, which has been shipping since late 2012, comes in three models today, Frame, Strata, and the new Meta. They are available through Amazon and the company's own website. Initial response by early users has been mixed as many await software updates that enables new features promised earlier, such as social network notifications.
At CES 2014, MetaWatch announced Meta, a new smartwatch. With Frank Nuovo at their side, Metawatch created "The Art of the Glance", a concept which focuses on eliminating the constant need to check notifications on your phone. Focusing on style and comfort, Meta is Metawatch's third line but little is known about the watch. Metawatch has expanded the marketing for Meta while giving little info about it.

Back in 2006, Fossil and Sony Ericsson produced the first Bluetooth watches. Those sold well until 2009, when Fossil started to invest more heavily in their fashion watches and Sony launched its own line of smart watches. In 2011, a team of investors led by Juha Pinomaa acquired the connected watch assets from Fossil. Fossil executives Bill Geiser and David Rosales were named CEO and CTO respectively.
The company took the years of development around their Bluetooth watch technology at Fossil and launched its own line of watches in 2012. As part of its launch, it went through Kickstarter. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in mid-2012 which raised over $300,000, the company began to ship the STRATA in late 2012. The company now offers three lines, the STRATA, the FRAME, and the META.
